The Minister of State for Sports, Honorable Peter Ogwang, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing sports infrastructure in the country. This declaration follows the recent historic achievement of Joshua Cheptegei, who secured his third consecutive gold medal in the men’s 10,000 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
In an online interview broadcasted live on NBS Sport from Budapest, Minister Ogwang refrained from delving into the specifics of the ongoing plans. He cited concerns about potential media distortion of his message as his reason for this discretion.
Minister Ogwang, who watched Cheptegei’s remarkable victory firsthand, praised the athlete as the greatest of all time in the country. Cheptegei’s accomplishments have undoubtedly made the nation proud.
During the interview, Hon. Peter Ogwang also shared insights from his meeting with the owners of Fenerbahce FC, who had expressed intentions to establish an academy in Tanzania. The Minister urged them to consider bringing this academy to Uganda, a move that could significantly contribute to the development of football and sports talent within the nation.
