Friday, November 17, 2023, will be etched among special days in the life journey of the rapidly emerging Masaka Kids Africana, Moses Muhangi (President of Uganda Boxing Federation), the people of Masaka, the sports fraternity, and the Ugandan population at large. On this day, the President of the International Boxing Association, Umar Kremlev, will officially set foot on Ugandan soil for the second time in a year, accompanied by 12 delegates from the International Boxing Association.
The contingent will be officially received through the VVIP reception at Entebbe International Airport by Uganda Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi and other officials from the Russian Embassy in Uganda. The entourage will also engage with government officials during their one-day visit in the Pearl of Africa.
This visit follows a viral boxing musical video by the talented Masaka Kids Africana, who extended an invitation to Kremlev, urging him to experience the vibrant talent that thrives in the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, particularly the Greater Masaka region, boasts a rich history of producing remarkable talents across various disciplines, including legendary boxers like Justin “The Destroyer” Juuko.
Umar Kremlev’s return underscores his belief in Uganda’s potential as the heartbeat of boxing in Africa. During his last visit in November, Kremlev expressed his conviction in Uganda’s ability to lead the African continent in the sport of boxing. His significant contribution to Uganda’s boxing infrastructure through the commissioning of a USD 5 million multipurpose facility stands as a testament to Kremlev’s commitment to nurturing and developing boxing talent in Uganda.
As Umar Kremlev embarks on his second journey to the Pearl of Africa, the boxing community eagerly awaits the positive impact this visit will have on the future of boxing in Uganda and the broader African continent.
