Today, at a conference hosted at Serena Conference Center, the betting website betPawa Uganda has officially launched its collaboration with Futsal, an indoor football game gaining popularity in the country. In a continuation of their partnership signed in September with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), betPawa has become the title sponsor for the Futsal league, one of three football properties covered by the umbrella sponsorship.
Ivy Igunduura, betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager, expressed the partnership’s goal of expanding the vision for Futsal’s growth in Uganda. The focus is on enhancing the brand identity of the Futsal Association of Uganda among players, coaches, club owners, fans, and international organizations interested in the sport.
As the official football partner of Uganda, betPawa aims to create equal opportunities for both established and emerging leagues. Igunduura highlighted plans to collaborate closely with the Futsal community, including fans and players, to develop initiatives fostering the game’s growth and development. A notable aspect of the engagement is the introduction of the betPawa Locker Room Bonus (LRB), a cash token provided to players on the winning team who make the squad list for each match. This bonus is sent to their phones after every victorious match and before they leave the stadium.
Under the umbrella deal signed in September, 25% of the UGX 1.18 Billion value will contribute to the betPawa Locker Room Bonus. All 20 players selected for the match day squad will receive UGX 150,000 each for every fixture their team wins during the season.
Additional benefits for the betPawa Futsal League include awards for the most valuable player of the season, best goalkeeper, coach, player of the season, most assists, and young player of the season. During the kick-off event, betPawa also distributed kits to all 16 participating teams in the league.
FUFA President Moses Hassim Magogo expressed gratitude for betPawa’s support of Futsal, emphasizing the positive impact on diversifying football talent, enhancing the fan experience, developing infrastructure, and providing an opportunity to elevate the sport to the global futsal stage. Magogo noted the significance of betPawa’s backing for a relatively new form of football in Uganda and Africa, considering the usual focus of sponsors on the more established 11-a-side outdoor football.
