In a replay of last season’s playoff quarterfinals, the Nicholas Natuhereza coached UCU Canons will look to replicate their 2-1 series win over D-Mark Power when the two sides meet tomorrow evening at 9pm at the Lugogo indoor arena.
Despite the departure of forward Rogers Dauna to City Oilers and the absence of injured guard Jimmy Otim who is recovering from a knee injury, the Canons will look to seasoned performers; guards Kevin kasobya and Ibanda Lwabaga together with forwards Joel Kayiira and Peter Sifuma who are part of a well drilled side.
Against five-time champions Power who boast of an experienced but relatively thin squad, veteran forward Isaac Afridra leads a roster that features Elvis Sentongo, Phillip Ameny and improved big man Imran Samadi. The Timothy Odeke coached side will target their first win of the season having lost 73-38 against City Oilers last time out.
The UCU Canons fell to KIU Titans 83-52 last Friday having picked up a 69-58 win over Kampala Rockets in their opener.
The evening’s opener KCCA Leopards take on JT Lady Jaguars in the women’s tie at 7pm. Action will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
