Mustapha Ussif, the Youth and Sports Minister, has confirmed a substantial investment of $195 million in infrastructure development ahead of the 2023 African Games, scheduled from March 8 to March 23.

During a press briefing on Monday, March 4, 2024, Minister Ussif disclosed the breakdown of the infrastructure expenditure. Minister Ussif also announced plans to transform the Borteyman Sports Complex into a sports university, saying the move aligns with their goal of fostering the growth and talent development of Ghana’s aspiring sports stars.

Anticipating significant global viewership, Minister Ussif said approximately 2 billion people would tune in to the 13th edition of the All-Africa Games.

Uganda will participate in the games in different sports disciplines such as; athletics, badminton, cycling, table tennis, tennis, wrestling, swimming, rugby, basketball, boxing, chess, cricket, football, and handball, among others.
