As the All-Africa Games commence today, March 7th, Uganda’s badminton team is poised for action, brimming with confidence and determination to make their mark on the tournament.
The Ugandan team boasts players such as Lubega Muzafar, Amos Muyanja, Justus Owiny, and Expedito Emudu in the men’s category, while Husnah Kobugabe, Gladys Mbabazi, Fadhilah Shamika, and Naluwoza Tracy represent the women’s category.
Ahead of their matches, Fadhilah Shamika expressed optimism, stating, “I don’t think we have been put in very hard draws. We have a chance to win medals in the singles and doubles in the tournament. Keep supporting us back home.”
Similarly, Husnah Kobugabe shared her aspirations, saying, “My expectations are high because I know I am going to do my best. My goal in this tournament is to win at least a medal for Uganda.”
The team’s preparation has been rigorous, with intensive training sessions held at Mbogo High School in readiness for the competition
