The Uganda U20 Men’s National Team kicked off their All-Africa Games campaign in style with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana. Arafat Usama Kizza and Ivan Irinimbabazi were on target to make sure the Uganda Hippos took home the three points.
Usama opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Nigeria leveling the score just two minutes making sure the game ended in a stalemate at half-time.
The Hippos prioritized staying solid defensively in the second half, eventually clinching victory thanks to Irinimbabazi’s long-range strike, assisted by Usama.
With this victory, Uganda tops Group B alongside Senegal, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between the two sides on Monday, 11th March 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
