After a tough loss to South Africa in the semifinals of the All Africa Games, the Victoria Pearls of Uganda are gearing up to compete against Nigeria for the bronze medal.
With Nigeria emerging victorious in one match, suffering a loss in another, and facing a no-result against Tanzania in Group A, the stage is set for a showdown between Uganda and Nigeria.
Uganda, having won two games and lost one against Zimbabwe in Group B, is determined to seize the opportunity for a medal.
Speaking about the loss to South Africa, Consy Aweko, the captain of Victoria Pearls, expressed disappointment at conceding too many runs.
She stated, “We did what we wanted to do, but we gave out a lot of runs. They took their chances and got the win. We have another day for my batters to come show us what they have to get us a medal.”
The Uganda versus Nigeria match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 13th. Meanwhile, in the final, Zimbabwe will go head-to-head against South Africa in the quest for gold, with the match also set to be played on the same day.
