Uganda is set to witness arguably the biggest game in the UPL this evening as reigning champions Vipers host 13-time UPL champions at the St Mary’s Kitende Stadium. KCCA stood out in the first encounter as they won the game 3-1, with Shaban Muhammad scoring a brace. However, he will not be part of today’s game due to accumulating 5 consecutive bookings.
Coach Livingstone Mbabazi, whose future at the club has seen numerous turns after his absence in the club’s previous games due to illness, will be on the touchline as he leads the Venoms with hopes of keeping the Kitende-based side in the title race.
During his pre-match talk, Livingstone acknowledged the weight with which the game comes with the rivalry of both teams and believed that both teams are well-prepared for the clash. He also stated that winning against KCCA would help keep them in the title race, given the fact that the current table leaders won their game yesterday against Obua’s URA.
He said, ‘I’m sure it is going to be a good game for the fans because both teams will be bringing good football, but at the end of the day, whoever wants it more will win it. I believe KCCA will not come to lose here; however, as Vipers, we shall do our best to remain in the title race.’
Vipers come into this game with 35 points after 18 games, lying in the 4th position, separated by 8 points from table leaders Kitara FC.
