The first edition of the Stanbic Match Play Qualifiers was held at Entebbe Golf Club this past weekend with Jaime Byaruhanga and Harriet Kitaka dominating proceedings.
The event will span eight months, culminating into a grand finale slated for this October 2024 and feature both professional and amateur players.
In the men’s division, Jaime Byaruhanga claimed victory in Group A with an impressive 65 nett, while Paul Habyarimana secured the runner-up position with a commendable 68 nett. Group B saw Collins Aritua emerge victorious with another stellar score of 65 nett, closely followed by Jimmy Adiga, who clinched the runner-up spot with 66 nett on count back.
In Group C, Micheal Bironse triumphed with a score of 67 nett, edging out Alex Mukasa, who finished as the runner-up with 68 nett.
In the ladies category, Harriet Kitaka emerged as the winner of Group A with 69 nett. Additionally, special recognition was given to Ronald Osekenye and Peace Kabasweka for achieving the Longest Drive in the men’s and ladies category respectively.
The tournament drew over 150 golfers. Isaac Tegule, the Head of Marketing at CFAO Motors, who are partner sponsors of the annual tournament, says they expect an even bigger and better showing going forward.
