In an exclusive interview with NBS Sport, Regional CEO of I&M Group, Kihara Maina, emphasized the bank’s dedication to sports involvement, particularly in golf. This commitment was highlighted during a recent event dubbed “Tee Time with the CEO” held at the picturesque Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa on Friday, March 15th.
Maina expressed the group’s enthusiasm for fostering sports engagement, citing their successful initiative, the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series, which has earned recognition on the Uganda Golf Union calendar. The bank aims to elevate this series into a premier regional tournament, attracting top golf talents and bolstering the sport’s popularity.
“We’re genuinely thrilled about advancing sports engagement, particularly through our prosperous venture, the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series. It’s incredibly satisfying to witness its acknowledgment on the Uganda Golf Union calendar. Our objective is to elevate this series into a top-tier regional tournament, attracting elite golfers and enhancing the sport’s prominence and appeal. The plan is to get ourselves more immersed in sports because you can see how beneficial it is world over” Maina exclaimed.
Dr. Amos Nzeyi, Chairman of Pepsi East Africa and Honorary Country Counsel of Mauritius to Uganda, underscored the significance of corporate involvement in golf’s growth. He emphasized that the participation of more companies will contribute to the sport’s expansion and development.
“Corporate involvement plays a crucial role in the growth of golf. The more companies participate, the more the sport can expand and develop. I particularly enjoyed todays round with the group I played with.” he stated
