The 2024 Uganda National Hockey League returned to action after a break for the Easter Cup with defending champions Swans and Weatherhead showcasing their unwavering prowess, extending their winning streaks in the women’s and men’s leagues, respectively. However, amidst their dominance, some teams celebrated their first victories.
In the men’s league, Wananchi soared to a staggering 14-0 victory against Titans, propelling them to 6 points.
Meanwhile, Makerere and Badgers battled to a hard-fought 2-2 draw, granting Badgers a total of 7 points, while Makerere clinched their first point of the season.
Weatherhead maintained their stronghold atop the league with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Stallions, moving to 9 points, while Originals secured a 2-1 victory against Rockets, leaving both teams tied at 3 points.
City Lions stunned Thunders with a late 2-1 win, elevating their tally to 6 points.
In the women’s league, HDF displayed sheer dominance with a resounding 23-0 victory over Thunders, strengthening their position with 6 points, as Thunders remained rooted to the bottom of the table.
Wananchi continued their ascent with a commanding 5-0 win against Historicals, reaching 6 points.
Deliverance Church delivered a stellar performance, clinching a 3-0 victory over Makerere, catapulting them to 4 points and surpassing Historicals and Weatherhead.
However, the highlight of the women’s league was the Swans’ formidable 2-0 victory against Weatherhead, solidifying their lead with an impressive 9 points.
