Namutebi Shines at 2024 Mandela Africa Boxing Cup

In the heat of the Mandela African Boxing Cup, Namutebi Erina emerged as Uganda’s standout performer. Facing Zimbabwe’s Kaye Hildah in a Semi Final match, Erina’s victory by split decision showcased her determination.

However, alongside triumph came moments of disappointment. Boxers like Nabikolo Fatuma, Ndagire Sharua, Nakalema Emily, and Matovu Ukasha settled for bronze medals after facing tough opponents.

Fatuma lost unanimously to Ayyad Abdalla of Egypt, Sharua faced a round 3 defeat against Mozambique’s Macaringue Ferna, Emily lost unanimously to Cape Verde’s Gomes Ivanusa, and Ukasha fell to a quick defeat against Congo’s Ntumba.

Yet, their resilience in the face of defeat resonated. Each bout highlighted their dedication and passion for the sport, showing that victory transcends medals.

As the 2024 Mandela Africa Boxing Cup concludes, Uganda’s boxers may have left with bronze, but their spirit remains unbroken, ready to rise and conquer again.
