Bombers Return With Five Medals From Mandela Cup

The Uganda national boxing team, The Bombers, returned to the country on Tuesday morning from South Africa where they won a total of five medals, including one silver and four bronze at the Mandela Cup.

The team that was led by Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi saw Erina Namutebi again emerge as Uganda’s best performer on the continent after scooping silver at the concluded inaugural Mandela Cup held in Durban, South Africa.

Meanwhile, Captain Matovu Ukasha, Shalua Ndagire, Emilly Nakalema and debutant Fatuma Nabiko settled for Bronze and returned with USD1500 each, Kassim Murungi who won Bronze from this year’s African Games and last year’s African boxing silver medalist Wasswa Ssali bowed out at the quarterfinals.
