The candidates contending for the presidency are George Fred Kagimu, John Burrows Lumu, and UPC President James Jimmy Akena. Each brings a unique background and set of skills to the table, adding layers of complexity to the electoral process.

George Fred Kagimu, a former FMU president, boasts a wealth of experience in motorsport management, positioning him as a formidable candidate with a deep understanding of the industry’s intricacies.

John Burrows Lumu, recognized for his prowess as both a rally driver and rider parent, brings a palpable passion for motorsport to his candidacy, appealing to enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Meanwhile, James Jimmy Akena, a figure blending roles as a rider, parent, and politician, injects a blend of calmness and unpredictability into the race, presenting voters with an intriguing choice for leadership.

The upcoming debate serves as a crucial platform for the candidates to articulate their plans, address pressing issues, and showcase their vision for the future of Ugandan motorsport.

As Victor Akatwijuka, NBS Sport Brand Manager, aptly stated, “This is an unprecedented occurrence in Motorsport. We are happy NBS Sports is going to host the first-ever presidential debate in the history of Motorsport.”

Akatwijuka further extended an invitation to all stakeholders and enthusiasts, urging them to partake in this historic event which will be live on NBS Sport Television. The debate not only marks a significant milestone for Ugandan motorsport but also underscores the importance of transparency, dialogue, and democratic processes within the sporting community.

With the election poised to determine the FMU’s leadership for the next four years, the debate emerges as a pivotal moment, offering stakeholders a glimpse into the future trajectory of Ugandan motorsport.
