As the countdown to the FIH Series in Lusaka, Zambia, continues, the Uganda men’s and women’s national hockey teams have commenced rigorous training sessions in preparation for the upcoming tournament.
The men’s team has structured their training sessions to take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Meanwhile, the women’s team will be honing their skills on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These sessions are scheduled from 4 to 7 PM at the Lugogo Hockey Stadium.
With the FIH Series looming on the horizon, the Uganda Hockey Association has underscored the importance of these training sessions, emphasizing their role in preparing the teams for the challenges ahead, including the continental competitions slated for next year.
In late April, the Uganda Hockey Association announced significant changes in their technical department. Moses Nsereko, who previously led the women’s team during the AFCON 2022 in Ghana, has returned as the head coach. Similarly, Vincent Kasasa, who coached the men’s team during the same tournament, has resumed his role at the helm.
Both coaches have assembled provisional squads of 33 players each, with a notable influx of young talent. The selection process has seen several members of the AFCON 2022 squads being replaced, reflecting a strategic shift in the team’s composition and approach as they gear up for the FIH Series.
