The Uganda Rugby Union has announced plans to initiate the vetting process for volunteers for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup.
Prospective volunteers aiming to contribute to the success of the tournament are set to undergo the vetting process on Saturday, May 11th. Successful candidates will subsequently be chosen to play pivotal roles in the organization and execution of the event.
Uganda’s bid for hosting rights was successful, securing the opportunity to host both the 2024 and 2025 editions of the continental tournament. The matches are slated to take place at the refurbished Namboole Stadium, offering a grand stage for rugby enthusiasts and participants alike.
Scheduled to happen from July 18th to the 29th, the 2024 edition of the Rugby Africa Cup promises intense competition, with eight African teams vying for supremacy. Among the participating nations are rugby powerhouses such as Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, along with contenders like Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Burkina Faso.
Hon. Andrew Ojok Oulanyah recently tabled a motion for a budget allocation of UGX 2.5 Billion to bolster the efforts of the Uganda Rugby Union in preparation for the tournament, a motion that was adopted and passed.
