Kitara Football Club, also known as The Royals, is a Ugandan football club based in Hoima district. Founded in 2010 by local communities in Bunyoro, the club competes in the top division of Ugandan football, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
While their home matches are currently held at Masindi Municipal Stadium, Kitara FC has established itself as a formidable force in Ugandan football.
Kitara FC boasts a talented squad featuring players like Mucureezi and Omedi to name but a few.
The team’s achievements include being crowned FUFA Big League Champions in the 2022/23 season and earning promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
President Deo Kasozi, who assumed office in July 2022, leads the club, with Brian Senyondo serving as the team’s head coach.
Kitara FC enjoys a dedicated fan base primarily from the Bunyoro region, with supporters spread across Uganda.
In the ongoing season, Kitara FC has been a formidable force currently sitting in fourth place with 51 points having won 15 games, drawn 6 and loat 7 of 28 matches.
As the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season comes to an end, the top four teams – SC Villa, BUL, Vipers, and Kitara – are separated by just three points.
Kitara face a challenging path to the title. To emerge victorious, they must secure a win against Gadaffi in Masindi and rely on SC Villa, BUL, and Vipers all suffering defeats.
This scenario would see Kitara and SC Villa tied at 54 points, with Kitara claiming the championship due to their superior head-to-head record against SC Villa.
