The FIFA MA Referees Course 2024 kicked off on Monday 20th May at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, marking the beginning of a five-day training program designed for Ugandan FIFA and National Elite Referees. The course aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of participating referees through both practical and theoretical sessions.
FUFA Executive Committee Member Ronnie Kalema officially opened the course, accompanied by FUFA Deputy CEO-Football Decolas Kizza and FUFA Referees Standing Committee Chairman Brian Miiro Nsubuga.
Other notable attendees included FUFA Referees Manager Samuel Egesa, Uganda Football Referee Association (UFRA) Chairperson David Davis Katabira, and FUFA Referees Technical Panel member Catherine Adipo. The event also saw the presence of FUFA Referees Physical Fitness Instructors Ali Kalyango and Samuel Turyomurirwe.
In his opening remarks, Kalema commended the referees for their dedication to the sport and urged them to uphold the core values of refereeing, namely fitness, integrity, and performance.
“FUFA is proud of the great job you do and we will always support you in executing your work,” Kalema stated.
The course will be overseen by FIFA Technical Instructor Felix Tangawarima and FIFA Physical Fitness Instructor Mark Muzengo, ensuring that the referees receive comprehensive training.
A significant number of referees are participating in the course, including Ali Sabila Chelangat, Mashood Ssali, William Oloya, George Olemu, Lucky Kasalirwe, and several others, totalling 35 participants.
