West Indies Thrash Uganda by 134 Runs at T20 World Cup

Uganda equalled the lowest score ever recorded at a T20 World Cup on Sunday morning, collapsing to 39 all out against the West Indies at Providence Stadium. This dismal performance matches the record set by the Netherlands against Sri Lanka in 2014.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, West Indies posted 173 for five, securing a comprehensive 134-run victory—the second-largest margin in T20 World Cup history.

Despite struggling with the slow pitch, opener West Indies’ Johnson Charles top-scored with 44 from 42 balls, including one six. Captain Rovman Powell added 22, hitting a six onto the grandstand, while Andre Russell accelerated the scoring with an unbeaten 30, slashing four boundaries in the final over.

West Indies’ bowler Akeal Hosein delivered a standout performance, finishing with figures of five wickets for 11 runs off four overs. Hosein’s exceptional spell dismantled Uganda’s batting lineup, supported by Russell and Alzarri Joseph, who also contributed with key wickets. Juma Miyagi was the only Ugandan batsman to reach double figures, scoring 13 from 20 deliveries.

Uganda will face New Zealand in the final group game on June 15th at 3:30AM.
