In a commanding display of skill and dominance, the Ugandan U18 basketball team secured a resounding 103-48 victory over their Tanzanian counterparts in the FIBA U18 AfroBasket Qualifiers held at the MTN Arena Lugogo.
From the outset, Uganda asserted their dominance on the court, establishing a formidable lead early in the game and maintaining their momentum throughout all four quarters.
Standout performances included Peter Serunjogi’s impressive 14 points and 8 rebounds, Aron Victor Makmot’s double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Duot Ajang’s impactful contribution of 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Despite Tanzania’s efforts to mount a comeback, they struggled to match Uganda’s intensity and found themselves trailing by a significant margin as the game progressed. Stanley Mtunguja emerged as Tanzania’s leading scorer with 21 points, but his efforts were not enough to turn the tide in his team’s favor.
Uganda also dominated the boards with 75 rebounds compared to Tanzania’s 30, showcasing their strength and dominance in the paint.
Following this commanding victory, Uganda looks poised to continue their quest for qualification with confidence and determination as they prepare to face Rwanda in their upcoming fixture on Monday evening.
