UPL Awards: Kakande Joins Manzoki, Karisa League

Patrick Jonah Kakande was the star of the show during the Pilsner StarTimes Uganda Premier League Awards Ceremony at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Saturday evening.

The SC Villa player took home four awards in total, the most of any other player on the day.

On top of the most significant award, the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League Player of the Season award, Kakande was also named the Players’ Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and was also selected on the Team of the Season.

However, the youngster was not the first player to win four or more awards at a single end-of-season awards ceremony.

Vipers duo Cesar Manzoki and captain Milton Karisa achieved the feat before Kakande did.

Manzoki scooped five awards in the 2021/22 season at the event held at Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo in June 2022.

The Central African Republic striker was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Players’ Player of the Season, Forward of the Season, Playmaker of the Season, and was in the Best XI of the Season.

Manzoki later left the club and one can say that he passed on the mantle to Karisa who owned the 2022/23 Awards Ceremony at Sheraton Hotel in June 2023.

In addition to the coveted Player of the Season award, Karisa also received the Playmaker of the Season award, and Coaches’ Player of the Season award, and was named in the Team of the Season.
