Lubiri Secondary School have been disqualified from advancing to the Round of 32 in the 2024 FUFA TV Cup due to a violation of rules, specifically the use of players who are not enrolled students at the school.
This decision alters the tournament’s schedule, with Mengo Senior School now set to face Makerere College School in the Round of 32 on Friday at Makerere University, replacing the originally scheduled match against Lubiri SS.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will adhere to judicial processes to provide a final verdict on Lubiri SS’s appeal.
This was confirmed during a meeting at Lubiri SS, attended by Mrs. Agatha Ssenyinjo, the headteacher, Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, chairman of the FUFA TV Cup organizing committee, and Ahmed Hussein, the communications director.
Despite the disqualification, the headteacher of Lubiri SS expressed gratitude to FUFA for allowing their school to participate in the tournament and affirmed their commitment to supporting their football team, which enjoys significant popularity among the students.
The Round of 32 first leg games are scheduled to be played from Friday, July 19th to Sunday, July 21st, featuring a total of 14 games at various schools.
The matches will kick off with Old Kampala SSS facing Kibuli SS at Old Kampala SS grounds on Friday.
