The Uganda Boxing Champions League is set to make a return this Saturday at the Lugogo Arena, following a successful event at Club Obligato in Kampala during week four. The upcoming event will feature 20 bouts, promising an exciting evening for boxing fans.
One of the highlight matches of the night will see Kyobe Jonathan of Lukanga Boxing Club facing Mawanda Frank of Kololo Boxing Club in the 57kg featherweight category.
Kyobe, who secured a bronze medal at the 2022 Africa Boxing Championship in Maputo, and Mawanda have both undergone health checks and weigh-ins, confirming their readiness for the fight.
Kyobe expressed his confidence ahead of the bout, encouraging his fans to show up in large numbers.
“Tomorrow, I urge all my fans to come in big numbers and witness what will go down. There will be dancing in the ring between me and my opponent, and while he promised to stop me in the third round, I promise him a real battle,” Kyobe stated.
In response, Mawanda remained assertive, emphasizing his focus on the match. “We are not here for a dancing competition; we are here to box. I promised to take him down in the third round, and I intend to keep that promise,” Mawanda declared.
Among the other notable matches of the evening, Kaddu Julius of Katabi will take on Kyeyune Mathias in the lightweight category. Both fighters have exchanged strong words, adding to the anticipation of their bout.
The boxing night will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
