NBS Sport Gears Up to Broadcast the Rugby Africa Cup Live

NBS Sport, Uganda’s premier sports channel, will be the the official broadcast and production partner for the highly-anticipated 2024 Rugby Africa Cup.

The tournament, which is the biggest rugby spectacle in Africa, will see eight of the continent’s top rugby nations, including hosts Uganda, compete for continental supremacy.

The Rugby Africa Cup, that will also feature defending champions Namibia, Kenya, Algeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso, will be played at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, and Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku between July 20 and 28.

The landmark partnership to broadcast the tournament underscores NBS Sport’s commitment to Championing Ugandan Sport by delivering top-tier sports coverage and positions the channel as a leader in sports broadcasting across the region.

Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager of NBS Sport, expressed his excitement about this partnership saying, “We’re thrilled to be the official broadcast and production partners for the Rugby Africa Cup.”

“This opportunity allows NBS Sport to demonstrate our exceptional sports broadcasting expertise to the entire continent, solidifying our position as the leading sports TV channel in the region,” he added.

NBS Sport, the only 24-hour dedicated sports channel in Uganda, will provide extensive coverage of the tournament, broadcasting all the 12 games across the three game days.

The tournament’s games will kick off tomorrow Saturday July 20 with Namibia facing Burkina Faso at 10 am, followed by Kenya versing Senegal at 12 pm, Algeria against Ivory Coast at 2 pm, and hosts Uganda taking on Zimbabwe at later on at 4 pm at Namboole.

Akatwijuka highlighted the meticulous preparations by the NBS Sport production team who have already set up at Namboole ahead of the games, affirming that the with the team’s experience in the field of live production and broadcast, viewers are poised to be captivated throughout the entire tournament.

“With our team’s unparalleled experience in production and coverage, we’re committed to delivering top-notch content that will captivate audiences and set a new standard for sports broadcasting,” he said.

On Wednesday July 24, the semi-finals and placement semi-finals will take place at Wankulukuku.

The winner between Kenya and Senegal will face the winner between Algeria and Ivory Coast at 2pm, after the two placement semi-finals, while the winner between Namibia and Burkina Faso will take on the winner between Uganda and Zimbabwe at 4pm.

The tournament will culminate in a thrilling final at Namboole on Sunday July 28 at 4pm, following the 7th place, 5th place, and 3rd place finals earlier in the day.

The Rugby Africa Cup also marks the beginning of the 2027 men’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers for the African continent, following a straight knockout format from the quarterfinal stage.

NBS Sport’s comprehensive coverage of the Rugby Africa Cup will not only showcase the thrilling matches but also highlight Uganda’s capacity to host such a prestigious event.
