NBS Sport has officially partnered with Uganda Golf Union, marking a significant milestone in sports broadcasting in the country.
The agreement, signed on July 24, 2024, at the Next Media Park, was assented to by the President of Uganda Golf Union, Dr. Jackson Were and Next Media CEO Kin Kariisa.
Joe Kigozi, General Manager of NBS Sport, expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude towards the team members who worked tirelessly to secure this partnership.
“We have committed ourselves to creating golf content. Given the current demographics in Uganda, it’s crucial to make golf more appealing to young people,” Kigozi stated.
He further emphasized the importance of bridging the knowledge gap and providing the necessary amenities to attract the younger generation.
“Golf is more than just a sport; it is a lifestyle. We are thrilled to be the official media partner promoting this journey,” he added.
NBS Sport, which has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Uganda Golf Union is dedicated to promoting sports and uncovering talent across Uganda.
Next Media CEO Kin Kariisa highlighted the changing perception of golf.
“People often see golf as a niche sport for the privileged. We want to change that. Golf is for everyone, and it’s a fair game where you can compete with world champions,” Kariisa remarked.
Uganda Golf Union President Dr. Jackson Were expressed his excitement about the partnership.
“Being able to communicate our message through this medium is an opportunity we do not take for granted. This partnership will help us achieve our strategic objectives,” Were stated.
Uganda Golf Union now aims to promote various categories, including youth participation, emphasizing the importance of integrating golf into school sports programs for its lessons in discipline, patience, and integrity.
