Uganda Rugby Cranes head coach Fred Mudoola remains unimpressed with the 15s despite the victory over Burkina Faso at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Wednesday.
The Cranes beat the Burkinabe 25-15 in response to a narrow 22-20 loss to Zimbabwe on Saturday, a game of halves indeed.
After trailing 22-0 at halftime, Uganda mounted a comeback in the second half but fell behind by two points.
“Following the defeat to Zimbabwe, we tried to work on a couple aspects,” Mudoola told the media in his post match reaction before adding.
“The team worked hard but we were once again far from implementation more so in the way we defended.”
“It was terrible Rugby in the first game with the players playing under pressure and still that did not change, the nerves and impatience were visible,” he added.
Usual suspect Philip Wokorach and Shakim Ssembusi were at the forefront for the Cranes’ triumph over Burkina Faso.
Defeat to Zimbabwe denied Mudoola’s team a chance to play in the final on home soil but the win over Burkina Faso redeemed the Cranes in terms of avoiding relegation.
They will meet a tricky challenge in Senegal in the fifth place playoff final on Sunday and hopefully this time around the Cranes will impress their manager.
To reach the placement final, the Senegalese eased past Ivory Coast 25-8 in the classification semifinals.
