The Nigerian Football Federation (NFA) is actively pursuing Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
Despite Adarabioyo’s frequent appearances for England at youth levels, he has yet to debut for the senior team, making him eligible to represent Nigeria.
According to Chelsea Blog site London World, the NFA has made multiple approaches to Adarabioyo, including a meeting with former Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro before the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year.
However, the Portuguese coach could not convince the then-Fulham player to join the Super Eagles.
Nigeria currently lacks a head coach, but high-ranking NFA officials are keen to continue their efforts to secure Adarabioyo.
They are inspired by the success of Ademola Lookman, who initially declined but later chose to represent Nigeria. Lookman was instrumental in Nigeria’s recent AFCON run, where they reached the final. This tournament saw 15 English-born players participate.
