Blacks Power Football Club, competing in the FUFA Big League, will shift their home ground from Akii Bua Stadium to the Lira Golf Club pitch for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
This relocation is necessitated by construction works planned for Akii Bua Stadium.
The Akii Bua Stadium, named in honor of Uganda’s first Olympic gold medalist John Akii Bua, will undergo significant works as Uganda prepares to host AFCON 2027.
The government has allocated funds in the 2024/25 budget for the construction of the facility. The construction works will include a new passenger terminal building at Gulu Airport of about 8,500 to 10,000 square meters.
SAMCO National Construction Company, the primary contractor for the project, has engaged ESPN Associates and K&J Engineers and Associates LTD to carry out essential surveying and soil investigations ahead of the full-scale construction.
