On July 29, 2024, Kawempe Muslim Ladies and URA Football Club announced a new partnership, marking a significant development for both clubs.
The partnership comes as a response to a mandate requiring all Uganda Premier League teams to have a women’s team, with URA Football Club initiating the partnership with Kawempe Muslim’s junior team.
In an interview with NBS Sport, Ayubu Khalifah, Head Coach of Kawempe Muslim Ladies, expressed his optimism about the partnership noting that the collaboration is a strategic move for both clubs.
“It’s mandatory for all Super League teams to have a women’s team, they approached us to partner with our junior team, which we agreed to. It’s a great opportunity, as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is a big brand, and Kawempe is also a well-established brand, so partnering with them is a plus for us,” he said.
