Paris 2024: Rahimi Leads Morocco to Historic Bronze

Morocco’s men’s football team etched their name in the history books with a resounding 6-0 win over Egypt in the bronze medal match at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday, securing the country’s first-ever Olympic medal in football.

Led by the sensational Soufiane Rahimi, who scored twice in the match, the Atlas Lions delivered a masterclass at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, leaving the Egyptian side and their fans stunned.

Rahimi, who emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with eight goals, also set a new Olympic record by scoring in six consecutive matches.

The North Africans wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Abde Ezzalzouli curling a beautiful shot into the net in the 23rd minute. Just three minutes later, Rahimi doubled the lead with a powerful header, effectively ending Egypt’s chances of a comeback.

Morocco continued their relentless attack after the break, with Bilal El Khannouss adding a third goal in the 51st minute. Rahimi struck again shortly after the hour mark to make it 4-0.

Akram Nakach and captain Achraf Hakimi also found the back of the net, with Hakimi capping off the victory with a stunning free-kick.

Soufiane Rahimi, reflecting on the victory, said, “This is a dream come true for us. We promised our people that we would win a medal, and we have delivered. This is a historic moment for Moroccan and African football.”
