There is an ongoing campaign to support the youth national basketball teams ahead of the Continental Championship and U-19 World Cup.
“Basketball fans, supporters, and all Ugandans! Our U19 teams need your help as they travel to South Africa for the Continental Championship and U19 World Cup!” a FUBA statement read before adding.
“Your sponsorship or financial assistance can make a huge difference. Let’s get our young stars to the top!”
In response to the above call, Hoops Dream in collaboration with their Baltimore-based partners iCARRe International Foundation have rendered a helping hand financially.
Hoops donated UGX 11m to the teams that will be travelling to South Africa to participate in the FIBA Africa Youth Championships due to kick off on 1st to 13th September.
Both Susan Nakitende and Allen Namiya, who serve as the Project Manager And Sports Director at Hoops Dream, were in agreement on the continuous support for youth talent development and growth.
Uganda will be represented by both the Junior Gazelles and Junior Silverbacks
The Gazelles and Silverbacks triumphed over neighbours Rwanda at the FIBA Zone V U18 Championship at the Lugogo Arena.
As the Junior Gazelles will be competing at their fifth championship, on the other hand, the Junior Silverbacks will be in for the third time.
