Serena 63 Golf Series Attracts More Golfers for Second Quarterly Event

The Serena 63 Golf Series is set to return for its second quarterly event this Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo.

This event, now in its second year, has seen a notable increase in participation, with 77 players registered to compete, up from 70 in the first quarter.

As the series gains momentum, participants are eager to showcase their skills, with the top performers set to be recognized during a special prize-giving dinner at the 19th hole.

In addition to the main event, a subsidiary competition will be held, welcoming all golfers, including those who are not part of the series.

Boniface Ssimwa, a pro at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa and an official for the series, highlighted the growing popularity of the Serena 63 Series.

“The Serena 63 Series is now one of the most sought-after events at the club. We have tens of players who have already completed over 20 rounds, significantly increasing their chances of emerging as winners in the series,” he remarked.

Participants in the series are vying for a grand prize worth USh 40 million, which includes an exclusive annual golf membership at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa. The stakes are further heightened by special perks offered by I&M Bank Uganda, the event’s main sponsor.

Among these perks is a fully sponsored trip for the top five overall winners to participate in the esteemed I&M Invitational Golf Tournament in Kenya next year.

As of now, defending champion David Plenderleith, who leads the series with 20 rounds, is one of the players to watch closely. Other notable competitors include first-quarter second runner-up Duncan Kaggwa, who has completed 23 rounds, Kartick Halai with 22 rounds, and Katy Kabenge with 21 rounds.

The excitement surrounding the Serena 63 Golf Series is building as participants look forward to the grand finale, scheduled for November 30th, 2024, where the overall winners will be announced.
