KIU Titans guard Peter Obleng has declared his team’s unwavering determination to surpass their previous season’s performance as they gear up for a crucial National Basketball League (NBL) semifinal clash against the Namuwongo Blazers.
With the best-of-five series set to tip off on today, both teams find themselves under intense pressure to secure a spot in the finals.
Obleng, who recently returned from national duty with Uganda’s 3×3 Youth Nations League team and recovered from an injury, is brimming with confidence.
“The entire team is focused on winning,” Obleng asserted to KIU Titans Media Team. “We’ve come back stronger and are ready to give it our all.”
The guard played a pivotal role in the Titans’ quarterfinal victory, especially in game two where he recorded a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Obleng’s return to full fitness is a significant boost for the Titans. Averaging 10 points and three rebounds per game this season, he has proven to be a key contributor, particularly in the playoffs where his impact was evident after missing the first round due to national team commitments.
Facing the 2022 finalists, Namuwongo Blazers, will be no easy task. However, Obleng believes that with unwavering focus, the Titans can overcome this hurdle.
“We are well-prepared for the challenge,” he said. “If we stay focused, we can definitely beat them.”
Obleng’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor will be crucial in determining the outcome of this highly anticipated matchup.
