Wakiso Giants continue their preparations for the 2024-25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League by adding Tanzanian defender Issack Emanuel Mtengwa to their squad.
Mtengwa, a right-back from Young Africans, joins the Purple Sharks on a one-year loan deal from the 30-time Tanzania Premier League champions.
The club announced the signing on their official social media platforms on August 18.
Mtengwa is the second player from Young Africans to join Wakiso Giants under a similar arrangement, following the earlier arrival of Shaibu Mtita, who also joined on a season-long loan.
In addition to Mtengwa and Mtita, Wakiso Giants have strengthened their squad with five other new signings: Josephat Ayebare, Hudson Mbalire, Vincent Zziwa, Derrick Kaija, and Eric Kabamba.
The new Uganda Premier League season kicks off on Friday, September 13, 2024, with an opening match between KCCA and URA.
Wakiso Giants will play their first game at home against SOLTILO Bright Stars on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
