FUFA Women Super League champions, Kawempe Muslim Ladies will enter the fray on Monday, August 19 for their first game at the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.
Ahead of the game against PVP Buyenzi from Burundi at Abebe Belika Stadium in Ethiopia, Kawempe’s captain Phionah Nabulime stated the importance of winning the first game.
“The mood in camp is very good and all the players can’t wait to get started,” Nabulime said in her prematch interview with the club media.
“We know how important it is to win our first game because that will set the pace on what we should expect of ourselves.”
“Our minds are set on victory and we shall give it our best shot although it will not be easy because that is the target for all the teams here,” she noted.
The Kawempe-based outfit is pooled in Group B with Tanzanian giants Simba and Djibouti FAD the other two teams in the group apart from Kawempe and Buyenzi.
After the match against Buyenzi, Ayub Khalifa’s girls will play Simba on Wednesday before climaxing their group stage matches against FAD on Friday.
