Finance Trust Bank Pours UGX 2 Billion into Women’s Football Development

Finance Trust Bank has announced a two billion shilling sponsorship deal with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA). The sponsorship will go towards the FUFA Women’s Super League and Elite League.

Ms. Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa, Managing Director of Finance Trust Bank, highlighted the organization’s unwavering dedication to women’s success.

Established in 1984 to empower women in business and management, the bank has helped over half a million women across Uganda achieve their financial goals.

“We are thrilled to extend our support to women’s sports,” Ms. Mulindwa declared. “This two billion shilling sponsorship of the FUFA Women’s Football program marks a pivotal moment in our journey.”

The partnership breaks down into a UGX 1.7 billion direct investment to FUFA over four years, translating to UGX 350 million annually.

The remaining funds will be directed towards sponsorship activation initiatives.

FUFA President, Hon. Eng. Magogo Moses, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, recognizing it as a testament to the success of FUFA’s women’s football development program.

“Uganda has emerged as a powerhouse in women’s football within the CECAFA region thanks to years of dedicated investment,” said Magogo.

“However, our ambitions reach far beyond regional dominance. With the combined support of the Ugandan government and esteemed corporate sponsors like Finance Trust Bank, we believe Ugandan women footballers have the potential to compete and win at the continental and global level,” he added.

This sponsorship elevates Finance Trust Bank to the title sponsor position for both the Finance Trust Women’s Super League and the Finance Trust Women’s Elite League.

“We at FUFA are incredibly excited about this partnership,” Magogo continued. “We believe it will have a transformative impact, propelling Ugandan women’s football to the World Cup stage.”

The upcoming 2024/25 season for both leagues is scheduled to kick off in late September 2024.
