The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has taken a significant step towards professionalizing African football leadership with the launch of its inaugural Executive Programme.
This groundbreaking initiative, developed in partnership with the University of Cape Town (UCT), Africa’s top-ranked university, aims to equip football executives across the continent with the necessary skills to drive strategic growth.
The 20-day program, currently in its virtual phase (August 19-22), will culminate in an in-person session at UCT from September 1-7.
A total of 23 General Secretaries from CAF’s Member Associations and Zonal Unions are participating.
The curriculum, delivered by experienced academic and sports industry experts, covers crucial areas like strategic planning, financial management, legal and governance frameworks, marketing and sponsorship, and event management.
An official opening ceremony will be held on September 1st, with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and UCT Vice Chancellor Professor Moshabela expected to attend.
The program will conclude on September 7th with a graduation ceremony for all participants.
While the inaugural program is conducted in English, CAF is already planning a future edition in French to ensure inclusivity across the continent.
