Busoga United has been returned to community ownership, marking a new era for the once-prominent football team.
This decision comes after years of challenges and a recent relegation from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The move was officially announced following a blessing from the club’s patron, His Royal Highness Kyabazinga of Busoga William Wilberforce Kadumbula Nadiope IV.
The transition from private ownership under Dina Nyago to community-based management aims to address the club’s longstanding issues and revitalize its fortunes.
To oversee the transition and manage the club’s affairs, FUFA has appointed an interim executive committee.
Headed by Hajji Abubakar Walui as chairman and supported by Dina Nyago as deputy, the committee also includes Kitonto Ronnie, Kawanguzi Geoffrey, Nkutu David Nelson, Mukoka Yusuf, Atiisa Patrick, Mutesi Deborah, Sylvia Naigaga, and Mugabi Samuel.
The community-led approach is expected to foster greater engagement with local fans and stakeholders, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the club.
This development is seen as a positive step towards rebuilding Busoga United’s reputation and competitiveness in Ugandan football.
