The Grand Nairobi Jubilee Race is set to take place this Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Now in its fourth edition, the event is expected to attract over 1,500 cyclists from across East Africa and beyond.
Team Uganda, led by event director Ismael Lance Ssebayigga, is among the participants. The team, comprising 100 riders from the Fun Cycling Club, was officially flagged off today by the President of Cycling Sam Mahamba Muwonge.
The Grand Nairobi Jubilee Race will feature various categories, including elite, female, family fun rides, and a special division for ordinary bikes.
This inclusive format aims to attract a diverse crowd and promote cycling as a popular and accessible sport.
Nakabuye Shamal, a member of the Fun Cycling Club, emphasized the importance of teamwork and community spirit.
She revealed that the team has been training rigorously to enhance their skills since last year’s race.
The club hopes to inspire young cyclists in Uganda by demonstrating that competitive cycling can lead to great opportunities.
