The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has issued penalties against three basketball clubs – Kampala Rockets, RezLife Saints, and Entebbe Archers – for violating the league’s foreign player regulations.
According to FUBa, an investigation conducted by their Competitions Council revealed that the clubs had used more than the allowed number of foreign players on game day during the 2024 season.
This was contrary to the FUBA rules that state that teams are permitted to register and utilize a maximum of four foreign players per game.
After analyzing game day score sheets, the council found that Kampala Rockets exceeded the limit in six games, RezLife Saints in nine games, and Entebbe Archers in five games.
As a result of these violations, FUBA has imposed several sanctions.
Each of the three clubs has been fined $300 or its equivalent in Ugandan shillings.
Additionally, Kampala Rockets, RezLife Saints, and Entebbe Archers will automatically lose all points earned in the games where they used more than four foreign players.
Furthermore, they will forfeit points in subsequent games against the same opponents if the violations occurred in the first round.
