FTSWL: Martyrs Secure First Win as Other Matches End in Draws

Uganda Martyrs WFC finally got off the mark in the 2024/25 Finance Trust Women Super League with a narrow 1-0 victory over newly promoted Tooro Queens FC on Saturday.

Auki Kigongo’s goal in the 41st minute was enough to secure the win, marking Uganda Martyrs’ first triumph of the season after struggling in the opening two rounds.

The other three matches of the day ended in stalemates.

Makerere University WFC held Kampala Queens FC to a 0-0 draw, while She Corporate FC also shared the spoils with Olila HS WFC in another goalless encounter.

Meanwhile, Wakiso Hill WFC and Lady Doves FC played out a 1-1 draw, with Lydia Nyandera scoring for Lady Doves in the 20th minute, only for Anitah Tezikya to level for Wakiso Hill in first-half stoppage time.

As the league progresses into matchday three, Uganda Martyrs will be relieved to have registered their first win, while the rest of the Saturday action saw teams struggling to break down defences and secure victories.

The action continues on Sunday, with two fixtures lined up.

She Maroons take on defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who will be aiming to extend their perfect start to the season with a third consecutive win on the road in Luzira.

Rines WFC will face Amus College in the other match of the day.
