Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has made three changes to his starting lineup for the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Sudan.
The standout inclusion is Allan Okello, whose recent performances off the bench have earned him a spot in the starting XI.
The young playmaker has impressed with key assists in Uganda’s previous qualifiers against South Africa, Congo Brazzaville, and South Sudan.
Okello replaces Travis Mutyaba in the attacking midfield role while experienced midfielder Taddeo Lwanga, who returned to the national team during this international window, replaces Ronald Ssekiganda to partner captain Khalid Aucho in central midfield.
KCCA striker Derrick Nsibambi, known for his past goalscoring form against South Sudan, starts upfront, replacing Jude Ssemugabi.
Nsibambi has scored twice against the Bright Stars and will be aiming to continue that run today.
In Friday’s first leg, Okello made a significant impact after being introduced at halftime.
His assist led to the game-winning goal, scored by Bevis Mugabi.
His form will be crucial as Uganda looks to secure a spot at AFCON 2025 with a victory in Juba.
With three changes to the lineup, Uganda Cranes aim to seal qualification with two games to spare in the group.
