Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) President Robert Jjagwe has expressed his disappointment following his narrow loss in the race for Executive Vice President (EVP) of Marketing at the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) elections.
Despite the setback, Jjagwe remains optimistic about the future, demonstrating resilience in the face of defeat.
In a message to members of Uganda’s Table Tennis media group, Jjagwe acknowledged the outcome but highlighted the integrity of the electoral process.
“Bad day for me and Uganda. But no problem, we soldier on. That’s how transparent and clean elections work. Thank you all for your prayers,” Jjagwe wrote.
Jjagwe lost the EVP Marketing position to Ghana’s Mawuko Afadzinu in a closely contested vote, where Afadzinu secured 22 votes to Jjagwe’s 18.
The election, held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, saw significant competition across multiple positions, reflecting the growing interest in developing the sport across the continent.
Though the loss is a setback for Uganda’s aspirations in continental leadership, Jjagwe’s determined outlook suggests he will continue to play an active role in the sport’s development, both locally and regionally.
