I&M Bank Uganda showcased teamwork and industry engagement at the 2024 Bankers Sports Gala, held on October 20 at Kyambogo University.
The annual event, organized by the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services and the Uganda Bankers Association, brought together over 20 banks for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.
The gala featured a variety of sports disciplines, including athletics, football, basketball, tug of war, sack races, and bottle balancing.
I&M Bank participated in all competitions.
“Events like this are crucial for building team spirit and creating a more relaxed atmosphere outside of the office,” said Robin Bairstow, CEO of I&M Bank Uganda. “It’s refreshing to interact with colleagues in a fun and competitive setting.”
In addition to the sporting events, the gala provided an opportunity for bank executives to network and strengthen relationships within the industry.
I&M Bank was represented by a team of executives, including Sam Ntulume, Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer; Edward Gibson Nangono, Chief Business Officer; Duncan George Karugaba, Head of Operations; Lucy Akech, Head of Human Resources; and other staff members.
“Engaging in sports helps develop essential skills like leadership, communication, and discipline, which are invaluable in the workplace,” said Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank. “It also creates a sense of community and belonging within our organization.”
The Bankers Sports Gala is a popular event among banking professionals, offering a much-needed break from the demands of their daily jobs.
As the event continues to grow, it is expected to become an even more significant platform for networking and industry engagement.
