Kampala Kids Run (KKR) returns in 2024 with an inspiring mission to promote a healthier, happier, and more confident generation of children.
Set to take place on 8th December 2024 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds (Lugogo), this year’s event is expected to gather over 7,000 participants, including children, parents, schools, and community members, to run, jog, or walk 1.5KM and 3KM circuits around Lugogo.
The Kampala Kids Run began in 2013 under the theme “Safe Drinking Water in Primary Schools,” a purpose-driven campaign that continues to this day.
By encouraging children to participate in physical activities, the run aims to raise awareness and funds to provide safe drinking water to vulnerable primary schools in Uganda.
This year’s edition promises to be a fun-filled family experience, featuring: warm-up games to get the energy flowing, kids play areas and exhibitions to entertain and engage young ones, networking opportunities for parents and participants, stress management and wellness sessions, and a focus on improving children’s self-esteem, cardiovascular health, and emotional well-being, with activities designed to help kids deal with anxiety and improve their focus and thinking skills.
The event will also emphasize fun and learning, ensuring children enjoy every aspect of the day while adopting healthier lifestyles.
The health and safety of all participants remain a top priority. Event organizers will provide a dedicated team of marshals and medical staff to ensure proper health management on-site.
St. Peters Nsambya Hospital will also offer an on-site clinic for any necessary check-ups and minor treatments. Ambulances and nurses will be stationed along the route to address any emergencies.
Children are encouraged to prioritize their safety during the event, with organizers advising them to stop running if they feel unwell or hurt, emphasizing that health is more important than finishing the race.
Participants will be equipped with stylish black and white running vests featuring stars, along with white caps. Kits are priced at UGX 30,000 and are available at Bata shops, and schools across the city.
The success of KKR would not be possible without the support of esteemed partners and sponsors such as Movit, Lato, Bata, Nala Noodles, and Uganda Athletics Federation, among others.
Their contributions ensure that the event remains impactful, focusing on community-driven health initiatives for children.
Mark your calendars for 8th December 2024 and be part of a life-changing event that combines fitness, fun, and charity.
Together, we can inspire a generation of healthier and more confident children, while supporting a noble cause, safe drinking water in schools.
