The National Olympic Committee (NOC) is hosting a groundbreaking Sport for Climate Action Workshop from October 25-27 at the Nob View Hotel in Ntinda.
The event, which aims to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices within the Ugandan sports community, will bring together coaches, athletes, and sports administrators from across the country.
The workshop will delve into the critical role that sports can play in addressing the climate crisis.
Participants will learn about the environmental impact of sports activities, explore strategies for reducing carbon emissions, and discuss innovative solutions to promote sustainability in the sporting world.
Participants will also gain a deeper understanding of the science of climate change and its implications for sports.
They will also learn about sustainable practices for sports facilities and events, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.
Additionally, the workshop will explore the role of athletes and coaches in promoting climate action, both on and off the field.
By equipping coaches, athletes, and sports administrators with the knowledge and tools to become climate champions, the NOC hopes to inspire a wave of positive change within the Ugandan sports sector.
The NOC has extended an invitation to sports stakeholders to attend the workshop which they say is a significant step towards building a more sustainable and environmentally conscious sporting community.
