Arafat Returns as KCCA Take on Mbale Heroes in His Hometown

Uganda Cranes midfielder Usama Arafat is set to make his long-awaited return from injury as KCCA face Mbale Heroes in his hometown.

Arafat, who has been out of action since August after sustaining an injury during trials with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, rejoins the Kasasiro Boys in time for a high-stakes fixture at Mbale Municipal Stadium on Saturday.

His return is seen as a significant boost for KCCA, who are aiming to reclaim the top position in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) standings.

Arafat’s return to the field adds to KCCA’s strong lineup, which is currently in excellent form.

The team also welcomes winger Ettiene Katenga back into the fold after he missed the last two games due to compassionate leave following the loss of his father.

However, KCCA will be without in-form striker Derrick Nsibambi, who will miss his first game of the season due to injury.

Nsibambi has been a key player this season, contributing two goals and one assist across five appearances.

Mbale Heroes head coach Asaph Mwebaze, a longtime KCCA fan, will be in the dugout for his second game since returning to the club.

Mbale earned a 1-1 draw against Lugazi in his first match back and are hoping for a strong result against KCCA to help them rise from their current 15th position in the relegation zone with only four points.

KCCA currently sit third on the UPL table with 11 points and are looking to leap back to the top with a win on Saturday.

This encounter promises an intriguing clash, with KCCA bolstered by key player returns and Mbale striving for their first home victory of the season under Mwebaze’s guidance.
