Kitara’s new head coach, Wasswa Bbosa, faced a difficult start to his tenure as his side fell 2-0 to URA in the Uganda Premier League on Friday at Nakivubo Stadium.
Bbosa, appointed on Monday following Brian Ssenyondo’s dismissal, had hoped to make an immediate positive impact.
However, a well-prepared URA side dashed those hopes with a strong first-half performance.
Shariph Kimbowa scored the opener for URA in the 40th minute, followed by a penalty from Ivan Ahimbisibwe in added time before the break.
Ahimbisibwe’s goal marks his fifth of the season, tying him for the top of the league’s scoring charts with Mbarara City’s Seiri Arigumaho, Vipers’ Allan Okello, and Villa’s Charles Lwanga.
The defeat deepens Kitara’s current struggles, marking their sixth match without a win since their opening victory over Lugazi.
With just four points, they remain in the relegation zone, currently positioned 14th on the league table.
URA, on the other hand, advances to fifth place with 11 points, showing signs of improvement under head coach Alex Isabirye.
Kitara will aim to recover when they face bottom-placed Bright Stars away at Kavumba on November 8, while URA is set to visit Maroons on November 9.
