Renowned football manager Jose Mourinho has once again made headlines, this time for his scathing criticism of the Turkish Super Lig, its officials, and the officiating of his team’s recent match against Trabzonspor.
Fenerbahce secured a thrilling 3-2 victory, with a late goal from Sofyan Amrabat sealing the deal. The dramatic win sparked wild celebrations from Mourinho, including a failed knee-slide attempt.
However, the post-match press conference saw a different side of the Portuguese manager.
Mourinho launched a tirade against the Turkish league, calling it “too grey, too dark, and smells bad.”
He questioned its appeal to international viewers, suggesting that only his son might be interested in watching it.
The manager’s ire was further directed at the match officials, particularly the VAR, Atilla Karaoglan.
Mourinho alleged that Karaoglan was “probably having Turkish tea” during the first half and failed to intervene in a crucial moment when Fenerbahce should have been awarded a penalty.
Mourinho’s frustration was evident in his social media posts as well. He shared a video clip of the alleged handball incident on Instagram, garnering millions of views and likes.
